The Heart for the Fatherless resource closet at Arapaho Road Baptist Church serves foster and adoptive families from anywhere in and around the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, offering kids clothes from size preemie to 16, shoes, toys, baby equipment, and small furniture.

Hurricane Harvey Relief – How you can help!
We currently are collecting donations for teenage foster children who are arriving to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as evacuees from Hurricane Harvey.  Please drop off any donations of hygiene products or gift cards (to local stores and restaurants) at the Arapaho Road Baptist Church main office during regular business hours (MondayThursday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, and Fridays, 8:30am – 12:00pm).  The church office is located in the Family Life Center building at 2256 Arapaho Road, Garland, Texas 75044.  Please mark donations: Hurricane Harvey – Heart For The Fatherless.  Thank you!

Who is allowed to utilize the Heart for the Fatherless resource closet?  Is it limited to members of Arapaho Road Baptist Church?
No!  The resource closet is a ministry to the foster and adoption community in and around Dallas/Ft. Worth and is open to anyone who is involved in foster and adoption.  Currently over 40 local agencies refer people to this ministry.From where do you receive your resources?
Our donations arrive through a variety of sources including local children’s consignment stores as well as through individuals with a heart for foster and adoptive families and children.  A team of volunteers works hard to check all donations for cleanliness and to make sure they are categorized and are in good working order. Our stock constantly is growing and changing.  We literally receive a new truck load of donations every week!

How much does it cost to “shop” in the resource closet?
There is no cost to shop the resource closet.  Any clothing and items are available to you free of charge.  We only ask that when you are finished with the items you received that they not be sold.  Rather, please donate them to someone else who is in need.

When is the resource closet open?  Do you have regular hours?
While the resource closet is available 24/7 for emergency placements, our regular hours are Thursdays from 9:30am – 1:00pm, and second Saturdays from 12:00pm – 4:00pm.  Other hours of access are by appointment.

Do I have to be involved in foster and adoption to donate to the resource closet?
Baby and children’s items in very good to excellent condition, without stains, tears, missing pieces, or excess wear, always are welcome.  Please drop off any such donations during our regular Thursday and second Saturday hours, or with the receptionist in the church office during regular business hours (MondayThursday 8:30am – 5:00pm, and Fridays 8:30am – 12:00pm.)What We Need:  pack and plays, bumbo seats, diapers, wipes, double/triple strollers, like-new shoes, cribs, exersaucers, jumperoos, non-expired car seats, bassinets, gift cards, etc.

Where is the resource closet located?
We are located at Arapaho Road Baptist Church, 2256 Arapaho Road, Garland, Texas 75044 about a mile south of 190 George Bush Turnpike and Holford Road.There are four church buildings on the campus. The resource closet is located in the main worship center (with the steeple). Park in front and then walk down the middle drive on the right side of the building to the unlocked doors under the portico. We’re easy to find once you get inside. If the outer door is closed when you arrive, call or text the phone number on the board outside the door.
