‘Heart for the Fatherless’ Closet Update

Luana Araujo, church member and Early Childhood Coordinator at Arapaho Road, serves as Volunteer & Resource Coordinator in the Heart for the Fatherless resource center housed in our worship center building. This is a center set up to provide clothing and other household items for families who are providing foster care and who sometimes receive short placement notice. Luana sent the following update into our church office the other day:

“I just wanted to report some numbers for the month of September 2016. We had about 40 people come through the resource center – either shopping or volunteering. Of those individuals, about 25 families were exclusive shoppers, and around 10 of those families were first-time shoppers. Other than our usual Monday pick ups, Once Upon a Child contacted us four different times during the week to do an extra pickup, and we had about 10 more families donate items. I personally loaded my van FULL three times so I could take donations to Goodwill – either with items that were too large for us to store or with clothing where our bins were already full! We have been housed inside Arapaho Road for one year now, and I just want to say THANK YOU on behalf of all the volunteers and families who have been blessed by this incredible resource center!”

Thank You church family for extending a warm welcome to this incredible ministry and for all of the wonderful donations! Keep praying that through this opportunity we can love our neighbors and bless the city!
