Hurricane Harvey Response

09/29/2017

Dear Arapaho Road Baptist Church Family and Friends,

Our hearts break as we continue to pray for our family, friends and neighbors to the south who continue to be affected by Hurricane Harvey.  While there will be ongoing efforts and helpful response for many months to come, the following are trusted agencies and partnerships where both longer term, as well as immediate help, can take place. Please stay tuned for more information.

Prayer:
Each person can engage in praying for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.  Pray for the Lord to have mercy on those in need.  Pray for leaders to make wise decisions about how best to respond.  Pray for the Lord to work in the midst of this very difficult circumstance that has so many displaced and trying to cope with loss.  Pray for provision and for those relocating to other cities and towns.  Pray for patience and health as exhaustion sets in and the long process of working through unending next steps for recovery is underway. Pray that even in the midst of this great difficulty that the Lord would draw people unto Himself as they have opportunities to put their faith, hope and trust in Jesus.

We as a church family will continue to pray as we gather together to worship on Sundaymorning at 10:45 am.  I encourage all of our Life Groups and Growth Groups to invest time praying for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.  As we gather for corporate prayer on the second Wednesday of each month from 6-7 pm in the Fellowship Hall, we will plan to invest our time on Wednesday, September 13 focusing our prayers on the ongoing response and recovery of those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Movement Day (Type of aid: Serve refugees locally, or Financial donation):
Additionally, I received the correspondence below from Movement Day, an organization our church has been connected with in recent years to understand needs in the greater Dallas area.  See the information below on how immediate help and volunteer opportunities are being organized through the Salvation Army that are open to all who are willing and able to assist.
