Another month on the calendar turned this week. Can you believe we are into the early days of June? While it feels like it has been forever since we have seen each other face to face, I do appreciate the ways our church family continues to stay engaged as we seek to be in community and on mission while primarily online. As our leadership continues to monitor the surrounding landscape regarding the right time to consider offering in-person options for worship, it has been encouraging to see the initial stages of “life on the campus” beginning once again.
— On Tuesday, May 26 Lionheart Children’s Academy opened their doors to families needing childcare as parents headed back to work.
— On Saturday, May 30 it was such a blessing to see such an outpouring of generosity and service during our Heart for the Fatherless drive-thru donation event to replenish the resource closet. Many from our church family and the surrounding community were able to serve and contribute in safe and responsible ways as we celebrated this important initiative of helping to resource and bless foster and adoption families in tangible ways.
— On Monday, June 1 George, Dan and I began the process of transitioning our offices back into a safe working space as we continue preparing for the right time to resume opening the offices in a more normal way. I am so proud of our staff who continue to serve faithfully and cheerfully while figuring out how to do so remotely over these past weeks. I am grateful to our facilities team including Scott Lyles, Larry Nuss and John Long who continue to work tirelessly to prepare our campus for re-opening in the coming weeks. There is a whole team of staff and volunteers who have served the Lord, this church and our community in so many ways that I am thankful, grateful and appreciative. Great is your reward!
Yes, signs of life on the campus are taking place. Thank you for your patience, support and continued prayer as we do our best to make sure our campus environments are safe, sanitized and ready to welcome people back in the coming weeks. This is new territory for everybody and we are grateful for your flexible and positive attitudes.
ZOOM COFFEE WITH PASTOR DAVID AND THE PARTRIDGES
Join Pastor David on Wednesday, June 3 at 10:45am CST for a cup of coffee and a time to reconnect with Scott, Rachel, Joseph and Piper Partridge all the way from Hamburg, Germany. The Partridges will be sharing how life has been unfolding in Hamburg and how we can be praying for their family as they serve the Lord on the other side of world. Check your email for the ZOOM link.
COMMUNION THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday, June 7 be sure to join the Arapaho Road Family at 10:45am on Facebook Live and bring your crackers and juice to participate in Communion. Pastor David will lead us in a special time of prayer and remembering the sacrifice of Jesus at the cross while taking the elements of bread and the cup.
FOUR PHASE PLAN FOR ARAPAHO ROAD BAPTIST CHURCH
We continue to make preparations and considerations for the best ways to resume in person gatherings on our campus in the coming weeks. As our leadership continues to process and pray through options that will be the safest and wisest for our church family, please continue to pray for the Lord’s ongoing guidance. After receiving feedback and more information regarding our initial Road Map, the elders have made the decision to continue online options only throughout the month of June. We will continue monitoring data throughout the month of June and receiving input on the local, state, national and global fronts. We will communicate plans for July and following during the final week of June. You can find our revised four phase plan at arapahoroad.org/roadmap.
As we seek to grow in our effective ways to communicate, connect and be in community as a church family, the Communion App that we launched recently is a great way to stay engaged. We are seeing an increase in prayer, connection and encouragement among our church family as we get more familiar and comfortable with this great and simple resource. Contact email@example.com for more information.
