All Arapaho Road In-Person Ministry Activities Suspended Until Further Notice
As you likely have heard by now, President Trump has extended the shelter in place directive for our country. While we look forward to being together again as a church family and with friends, the prudent thing to do at this time is to stay the course and abide by the shelter in place directives being given by our leaders and those in the medical field advising through this global pandemic. Please join me in praying daily for President Trump and those giving advice in these challenging days.
Join Pastor David for a Cup or Two or Three of Coffee Via Zoom
On Wednesday, April 1, Pastor David looks forward to sharing a cup of coffee with you through an online ZOOM opportunity. Our church is helping our members to stay connected through this online platform that enables people to connect at the same time through their computer or phone. An email invitation will be sent out to the church family in the morning that includes an invitation with a link that will enable you to be part of this online community gathering. While this may be new for some, it actually is proving to be a wonderful way for people to connect, see one another at the same time on the screen of your device, and communicate with those participating on this platform. Pastor David will be on from 10:45-11:45 am drinking coffee and connecting with those who would like to be part of this interactive time together. While it has been a good time interacting for the past two weeks on Facebook Livestream with Pastor David, this new ZOOM avenue will enable real time interaction with multiple people for a time to connect, share some updates, laugh together and pray together in a unique way. Feel free to come and go as you have time. This will be a great opportunity to engage with one another and begin to understand how the ZOOM platform works. Look for a follow up email from Pastor David on the morning of April 1 with an invitation to join the ZOOM conversation beginning at 10:45 am.
Life Groups Online Via Zoom This Weekend
Over the past days George Butler has been hard at work on many fronts. One area he has been helping to get established online is our Life Groups via ZOOM. Look for follow up communication via email from your Life Group leaders in the coming days to begin utilizing the ZOOM platform for Life Group gatherings. We are all in this together. Hang in there while we do our best to get everybody connected and engaged in this new online platform. Give it a chance and thanks for being flexible and patient as we work together to stay connected in community in this way during these crazy days.
Sunday Morning Worship at 10:45 am on Facebook Live Throughout April
Join us each Sunday throughout the month of April as we continue to gather in our homes while practicing physical distancing as we shelter in place. While we look forward to that day when we will be able to gather again to worship the Lord together in person, we continue to gather online to declare that Jesus is Lord. Stay engaged. Stay intentional. And invite your friends! More people may join you for church during this Easter season than at any other time in history. This coming Sunday, April 5, Pastor David will continue in the Easter Upside Down series. The message this week is titled The Last Supper & Reversing the Curse. At the conclusion of the sermon, Pastor David will lead all of those engaging online in a special time of Communion together. Make sure you have the elements of a cracker or bread along with a cup of something to drink ready when that time comes. It’s more about what the bread and cup represent, than the actual elements themselves. Pastor David will help lead us through it in a way that allows all participating to know what to do step by step.
A few other things to know…
AR Student Ministry will be gathering Wednesday and Friday evenings for ZOOM hang outs. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
AR Kids Ministry will be gathering this week online for family friendly kid opportunities. Email email@example.com for more details.
The Belize Summer Mission Trip scheduled for May 28-June 3 with Thirst Missions has been postponed at this time. We are working with our contacts to consider options for rescheduling this trip in the future and reallocating the funds given to a later date… most likely sometime in Summer 2021. More information will be available in the coming days.
The Germany Summer Mission Trip in July does not need a decision about continuation or postponement at this time. We continue to monitor the pandemic situation and will make a decision as we approach deadlines in the coming weeks.
Online-Giving Is Picking Up Steam
Thank you for your faithfulness in giving to the Lord through the church. While our first couple of weeks have shown good participation in giving through the mail, the best way to give during this time is through our secure website. You can sign in to our secure portal arapahoroad.org/online-giving. We will be fine financially if everybody participates in some amount. For those who are giving regularly, thank you. For those who are praying about starting, let me encourage you: start where you are and then take steps forward. If everybody took a step forward with 1% from where they are right now, that would make a huge difference. If you are not giving anything…would you take a step and give 1% of your income today? If you are at 1%…take a step up to 2%. If you are at 5% take a step up to 6%…and if you are giving the tithe of 10%, would you take a step and go to 11%? In an uncertain season where some are losing their jobs, know that we continue to pray and trust the Lord for His provision for your families and for His Church. Trust Him and test Him in this. See what God will do when you step out and worship through giving today!
