1. All Arapaho Road Baptist Church ministry activities remain suspended through April 3 in conjunction with the Dallas County Shelter in Place Lawful Order that went into effect at 11:59pm on Monday, March 23.
2. Please continue to join us through Facebook LIVE as we practice physical distancing during these unique days: facebook.com/arapahoroad
3. Our staff is working to expand how people in the coming days can gather In Community online regarding Life Groups, Leadership Meetings, and additional groups through online platforms such as Zoom.
4. Online Giving remains our most effective and efficient way to give at this time. Thank you and please remain faithful to give to the Lord through the Church’s secure online giving link at: arapahoroad.org/online-giving
“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” -Albert Einstein
While the difficulty has been present in all of our lives over the past days, the opportunity continues to make itself known for those willing to look beyond the clouds of darkness. The light of the gospel has been shared around the world more times in the last week than possibly at any other time in the history of the world. While it is difficult not gathering in person to worship, the data suggests over 10 times the amount of people are gathering IN COMMUNITY online with our Arapaho Road family. I plan to continue daily on Facebook Live: 10:45 am CST morning gatherings through the end of March, Wednesday evening Bible study through Psalm 23 at 7:30 pm CST and Sunday morning worship at 10:45 am CST at: facebook.com/arapahoroad
More and more people are connecting and finding a place to hear the good news of Jesus, find encouragement to feed our faith and starve our fears, and offer hope as we seek to Follow Jesus, Love Your Neighbor, Bless the City, and Make Disciples.
I understand the severity of the global pandemic and the massive threat it continues to be to our world. The health of so many people that continues to be compromised even to the point of death is serious and not something to become calloused to or to stop praying for God’s divine healing and mercy however God may decide to intervene. However, I find myself energized and excited to be a part of this global opportunity to see the gospel go to the ends of the earth as well as right next door…all while staying behind closed doors.
We must continue to be vigilant both in our prayers and in our obedience to the governing authorities who continue to set measures in place for our protection, health and well-being. Our church is located within Dallas County and for those living here must Shelter in Place per the Lawful Order that went into effect on Monday, March 23 at 11:59 pm by Judge Clay Jenkins of Dallas County. This Lawful Order extends through April 3 at the time of this correspondence and likely will be extended in the coming days.
Please choose to follow the teachings of Paul who wrote these words under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit: “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.” Romans 13:1-2
Know that our staff continues to work diligently day by day to learn new ways to lead and serve in this time. We hope to roll out some new online platforms in the days ahead to help us find a new normal in these abnormal times. Thank you for your patience, support, encouragement and ongoing prayers. God is doing a new thing. Let’s all do our part to keep in step as the Spirit leads.
We appreciate your flexibility and continue to adjust and pivot as we all learn new ways to be the church within the context and parameters of this fluid situation. Thanks for walking alongside (at least six feet apart) and for making sure everybody is cared for, checked on, called and prayed for as the body of Christ within the Shelter in Place parameters. If everybody does his or her part, I believe we will come out on the other side of this a stronger and more vibrant church family than ever before.
God is preparing us and positioning us for the next generation. We just had no idea this was what He was going to do in our midst. Be wise. Be informed. However, don’t be afraid of the waves that seem to be crashing around us. Instead, grab a surfboard and dive into what God is doing all around our very lives. Yes, there is without a doubt much pain, suffering, death…and also opportunity. Surf’s up, friends! Don’t miss the opportunity today to point your family, friends and neighbors to the waves of God’s mercy and grace to help us all in our time of need.
Know that I love you and am praying for you every day. May God bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you! May He bring healing to our land and to the world. May He comfort those who are hurting, bring provision to those in need, and hope to those who are afraid. Let’s walk together. Let’s keep praying together. We all will be affected through this, but may we bring God glory no matter what comes our way. He is with us. I am with you! And together let’s do our best to seize every opportunity to point people to Jesus!
I leave you with an insightful quote I read from Andy Stanley this morning that I pass on to you. “When the story of COVID-19 is just a story we tell, let’s make sure our stories are stories worth telling.”
In Community. On Mission.
